Statement of Intent

Media institutions

For my documentary I will ensure that the posters will comply with the rules set out by the ASA. This means that it will not contain any content that may be deemed offensive by a wide audience such as gore, nudity, depictions of violence or anti-social behaviour, or cause fear or distress to audiences. This is particularly important since these posters will be visible to a public audience where it could be seen by people who are not the target audience, for example, young children; and therefore could upset them. The broadcast time of my product can be before, during, or after the watershed since I’m planning on making a football documentary which will not contain any harmful content or any content that may be perceived as offensive.

Media representation

In order for my documentary to be successful with audiences, it must be portrayed in a positive light so that they will be interested in watching it. I will do this by basing it on the uprising of a young footballer from growing up with little to now lighting up the stadium. The posters will be built around an active, sporty and motivational representation to ensure that the characters in my posters are highlighted in a positive regard and are seen as inspirational by the target audience. To further achieve a positive representation, the players could be seen smiling in the posters to indicate happiness and success.

Media language and audience

The documentary will appeal to the target audience which is 16-25 year olds by featuring people who are in this age group on the posters, for example, football players. This will make sure that the audience feel represented and that the documentary can resonate strongly with them encouraging them to watch it. Also, the documentary will appeal to younger audiences since it will be based on sports which is a popular genre amongst young people, so it will be entertaining and inspiring for them to watch to gain more knowledge and insight on how footballers best prepare for their futures.
